POLICE are investigating after a woman was hit by a forklift truck at a building supplies store.
The woman, aged in her sixties, was walking in the car park at Kent Blaxill, in Layer Road, Colchester, when the incident happened this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 10.20am.
The woman was taken to Colchester General Hospital with head injuries.
An Essex Police spokesman confirmed officers were sent to the scene following reports of collision between a pedestrian and a forklift truck.
He added: “Police are carrying out further inquiries into the incident and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.”
It is understood the woman’s injuries are not serious.
A spokeswoman for the Health and Safety Executive said it had not yet received a report and would not comment.
Kent Blaxill was contacted for comment, but declined.
