MOTORISTS reported rush hour delays after four mile diversions were put in place.
The Northern Approach Road will be closed for between three and six weeks while it is connected to an extension being built through the former Severalls Hospital site.
Motorists travelling south along the A134 are being diverted at Great Horkesley along village roads before entering Colchester on Severalls Lane and being sent along Mill Road.
By 8am, the normally congested Mill Road was even busier in both directions, while drivers heading north up Northern Approach Road faced queues at the Mill Road junction.
