A former Braintree and Witham schoolboy has entered the Big Brother house.
George Gilbey, who studied at Chipping Hill Primary School and Alec Hunter Academy, joined 13 other housemates for a celebrity version of the show, which returned to Channel 5 on Monday.
George, 30, grew up in the district before moving to St Osyth with his mum Linda McGarry and her husband Pete, where he found unlikely fame as one of the stars in TV’s Gogglebox, which won a BAFTA earlier this year.
Both George and his family are still well-known in the district from the days when they ran the Woolpack pub in Church Street, Witham and the Kings Head in Coggeshall Road, Braintree.
