Fallen heroes who died during the First World War have finally had their names added to a war memorial to mark the centenary.
Earls Colne Parish Council has identified 16 new names, which needed to be added to the existing 38 names on the village’s memorial, based at St Andrew’s Church in Church Hill.
Last year, the council was awarded a £6,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to fund the renovation of the monument.
The identification of the missing names is due to reseach led by parish council vice-chairman Ian Sparks.
