A schoolgirl has won a competition to name a new road in Halstead.

Nine-year-old Daisy Stokes-Shinn, a pupil at Richard De Clare Primary School, based in Parsonage Street, Halstead, picked the name Church View Close to name the new road, located just off Ronald Road.

Her choice topped a host of submissions for the competition, launched by Greenfields Community Housing, which is currently building four homes on the street.

Daisy originally suggested to name the road Brewery Close based on her discovery that the area was home to a family-run brewery from 1895 to the 1970s.
