Nine people were treated and one casualty taken to hospital following a fire at Chelmsford Prison.
EEAST were called to the prison on Springfield Road at 12.34pm dispatching three rapid response vehicles, an ambulance and the hazardous area response team.
A man in his 20s was treated for smoke inhalation and conveyed to Broomfield Hospital where his condition was not thought to be life threatening.
