A FAMILY of five were taken to hospital following a house fire.

The blaze broke out in an end terraced house in Agincourt Road, Clacton, around 11.45pm on Friday.

The three children and two adults had got out of the house before two fire crews from the town arrived.

They were all treated for smoke inhalation and taken to Colchester General Hospital.

The whole of the ground floor of the house was well alight and crews used breathing apparatus and hose reels to bring the fire under control.

The cause is unknown and an investigation will be carried out.
