THE daughter of a bouncer who was murdered 16 years ago says she will never give up in the fight for justice.

Today is the 16th anniversary of the death of Gary Chick.

He was attacked by three masked thugs on November 17 1996 as he walked on Clacton seafront near the Venetian Bridge with his girlfriend.

Mr Chick, 40, was hit over the head with what was believed to be a hammer.

The case has become Clacton’s longest unsolved murder.

Daughter Roxanne has made a renewed appeal for information in the hope that the anniversary will spark a breakthrough in the case.

She said: “It is always hard when this time of year comes around.

“I’m still hopeful that one day someone will be caught. We always said we would never stop until dad’s killer was found."

Roxanne, 27, of Leas Road in Clacton, was just 11 when her dad was murdered.

She added: “My dad was full of joy. Everyone knew him as a gentle giant.

“Every year I just keep my fingers crossed and hope someone has a heart and comes forward with information.”
