THERE'S a right Royal display at Nunthorpe railway station.

The Nunthorpe and Marton Knitters have been getting ready for the forthcoming wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19.

The display, on Guisborough Road, includes the Royal family, courtiers and corgis and someone who looks suspiciously like Elton John.

A spokesperson for for group told The Northern Echo: "We have had around 40 knitters all contributing to the Royal wedding display.

"We wanted to create something a bit different that would put a smile on people's faces and the Royal wedding was the perfect opportunity.

"We started the project in January alongside our other community knitting projects and we are delighted with how it's come together. We hope we have all the main wedding party in knitted form with a few extra for good measure!

"You might be able to spot Elton John, Prince Louis and of course the Queen's corgis.

"We have an amazing wedding cake to add later this week along with some American flags."

Nunthorpe station is one of a handful across the country where a local community group 'adopt' their station and look after it.

"The knitters work in close partnership with Northern Rail Community Partnership and the station adopters, Friends of Nunthorpe Railway Station," the spokesperson added.
