A SOLAR-POWERED warning sign could be set up to tackle speeding motorists.
Essex County Council has agreed to install one vehicle activated sign at a speeding hotspot in Tiptree, likely to be in either Station Road or Newbridge Road, and highways officers will meet with Tiptree Parish Council next month to discuss where it will go.
The signs, which flash up a warning if nearby drivers are speeding, are sometimes solar-powered and sometimes run using electricity from nearby sources.
Parish council chairman John Elliott told a meeting on Monday the council had asked for three signs in Station Road, Newbridge Road and the junction of Oak Road and Maypole Road but had been told they would have to pay for more than one.
