COMPOSTING roadshows were hailed a success as Maldon District Council tries to get more residents to recycle.
National Compost Week began on Sunday May 4 and ran until Saturday May 10 with roadshows in Maldon and Burnham.
And a spokesman for the council confirmed they were pleased with the number of people involved.
The district council recently revealed that they had not met the target tonnage for composting last year but it is hoped events such as these will increase the figure.
Councillor Penny Channer, chairman of the community services committee, said: "Home composting is a great way of helping the environment and seeing the benefits in your own garden.
"The council is pleased to support national campaigns such as this as together we can all help to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill."
