A GROUP of residents have unveiled a bench in memory of a much-loved councillor.
Former committee members from the now disbanded Bocking South Tenant's and Resident's Association commissioned the seat in memory of George Warne, who died in January 2007 aged 89.
He had served as a Labour councillor for Bocking South on Braintree Council for 46 years and supported the association, which ran from 1989 until last September.
The group had grant money outstanding when it folded, which it used to buy the bench at Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens.
More than £800 in remaining cash was split between the mid Essex branch of the Alzheimer's Society and the Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens Trust.
