Villagers have been awarded for their contributions to the community.

At Rayne's Annual Assembly for Parishioners last week four people were presented with Citizenship Certificates by Martyn Phillips, chairman of Rayne Parish Council, for their valuable effort.

Ray Peake, who has retired as the village groundsman, received his award for having undertaken village maintenance for over ten years and for being a key figure in Rayne winning the East of England title in the Calor Village of the Year for England competition in 2006.

Geoff Stone received his for voluntary work as village web master and winning the Information Communication Technology category of the 2006/7 Calor Village of the Year for England competition.

And David McGregor was awarded for voluntarily maintaining the village green for many years and Mike Shaw for being the editor of Rayne in Focus, a free church magazine distributed monthly to all villagers.
