Fun times: Kelly Mann, 6, and Olivia Wright, 5, enjoy the new equipment.

A new play area costing £50,000 has been officially opened.

A host of improvements have been made to the play area in Glebe Avenue, Braintree, and youngsters can enjoy a brand new climbing frame and seesaw.

Other additions include a 'twister' slide, new benches, bins, paths, fences and gates.

The play area was officially opened yesterday.

Anthony Everard, district councillor for Bocking North, said the opening went really well and by the time he was leaving there were a lot of children already playing on the equipment.

He said: "It is a brilliant investment as it is already really well used.

"There are football goals and netball posts and this completes the area - the next step is we want to improve the wood."
