School pupils burned off some energy and started a healthy fortnight with a sponsored bounce.

Youngsters at Powers Hall Infant School, Witham, took part in a sponsored bounce as a way to kick off a healthy living fortnight at the school.

Claire Edwards, headteacher, said over the two weeks children would experience a variety of sports including football and basketball and would learn about the effect of exercise and healthy eating on their bodies.

Mrs Edwards said: "The children had a wonderful time during the sponsored bounce.

"Each child bounced for three minutes and some children managed over 200 bounces.

"School councillors will be deciding how to spend any money raised."

The bounce took place at the Spa Road school on April 29.
