It was goals galore at a primary school as pupils spent a day taking part in a sponsored shoot-out to raise money for a new activity area.
All the 410 students at St Mary's Primary School, Kelvedon, had five shots each at netball and football goals last week.
The school council, made up of pupils, came up with the idea that a sponsored shoot-out would be a good money making idea and the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) helped them to get it organised.
Steve Taylor, the school headteacher, said each child was given a sticker to say they had competed and each year group wore a different colour.
He said: "It went really well and was a lot of fun.
"The final total was 2,002 and some of the teachers joined in at the end to take us past the number we needed."
Mr Taylor said plans have already been drawn up to improve the school playground and the work will include an adventure trail.
