Saddle up for Essex bike ride

4:41pm Thursday 1st May 2008

GET on your bike for the second Essex Villages Bike Ride.

The Randonneurs Road Club of Coggeshall is running the event on Sunday, June 15 to raise cash for Farleigh Hospice, following a successful inaugural ride last year.

Members chose the hospice in memory of their founder, John Chantry, who died from asbestos-related cancer at the age of 59 in July 2006.

Last year's event raised nearly £7,000 for The Anthony Nolan Trust and the Randonneurs donated their fee for organising the ride to Farleigh.

The bike ride is open to people of all ages and abilities and offers the choice of a 25-mile or 49-mile course through some of Essex's most beautiful rural villages, starting from Coggeshall.

There is no minimum sponsorship level. Entry is £5 for adults and £3 for children.

For more information visit www.farleighhospice.org or call 01763 247054.
