A CARE home hopes to expand to help more people with learning disabilities.
Braintree Healthcare Limited has applied to build an extension at Fern Lodge in Broad Road, Braintree, to provide supported living accommodation for ten residents, plus a dining room, day room and offices.
Manager Jenny Woolliams said: "This specialised unit is to support those who may develop dementia-type illness or more specialised care.
"Braintree Healthcare Limited already provides a service for eight people within a residential setting at Fern Lodge, as well as supporting six service users in their own tenancies both in Braintree and Witham.
"The proposed new facility would provide care accommodation for eight additional full-time service users and two respite/crisis beds for local service users."
