A year on, and the parents of three 15 year olds who died after two cars collided still can not believe it happened.
Richard Warren, Danny Archer and Chris Jolley were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a tree on the Sudbury Road north of Halstead.
The shock of their deaths, on May 6, 2007, ran right through Halstead, Sible Hedingham and Little Maplestead, where they lived, and Hedingham School, where they went.
Philip and Rosanne Archer said each day brings the stark realisation their eldest son is not coming back.
Mr Archer, 41, said it was only their other children, Katie, 18, and Charlie, 12 who kept them going.
He said: "If you haven't got other children, I don't know how you do it. You have to go on, because you have two others. Every day you wake up and think I can't do another day', even now, but you just think there's two kids in there that you have to carry on for."
The Archers moved from Sparrow Close to Recreation Road, Sible Hedingham, this March.
Amanda and Patrick Jolley, of Cock Road, Little Maplestead have never returned to the spot where the accident happened.
Mr Jolley, Chris's step father, said they and Chris's sisters, Laura, 13, and Eleanor, 11, are slowly coming to terms with their loss.
