The body of a man believed to be from the Clacton area was pulled from a river in freezing conditions.
Police, including members of the Essex force’s marine unit, battled against heavy rain and freezing weather to recover the 59-year-old’s body from the River Colne off Admiral’s Walk in Wivenhoe yesterday.
The man was declared dead at the scene after officers lifted him ashore at about 12.25pm.
