Footballers will be holding a fundraising match for a young boy suffering from a rare illness.

Former Halstead Town FC footballers will return to play against current players to raise money for Ramsey College pupil Taylor Carroll, who has been undergoing treatment for aplastic anaemia - bone marrow failure.

The 12-year-old of Rye Hills, Halstead, was diagnosed in January and has since undergone chemotherapy in Great Ormond Street Hospital and had one bone marrow transplant from his brother Jamie.

In early December, Taylor will have to return to the hospital for a top up transplant.

His mum, Donna Carroll, said: “The support we have had from everyone is overwhelming.

“It’s really nice how people are putting themselves out for us.

“They must think a lot of Taylor.”

The mother of six added: “He’s coping with it the best he can.

“It’s just a matter of having to get on with things.”

His father, Sean, said: “What people have done for us is incredible.”

The match will take place at 2pm on Sunday at Halstead Town FC.

Donations will be appreciated.
