A derelict bungalow has been destroyed after a blaze in Jaywick.

Two crews from Clacton fire station were called to the property in Hillman Avenue, Jaywick, at 12.26am yesterday.

A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to the scene after smoke was spotted coming from the building.

“On arrival they found that a derelict bungalow, measuring three metres by five metres, was 100 per cent alight,” he said.

“Using two hose reel jets and one main jet, they extinguished the fire by 1.22am, but remained on the scene for considerably longer, turning over and damping down to ensure that there were no hotspots and no danger of reignition.”

The Brooklands area suffered a spate of arson attacks in June 2005, during which another bungalow in Hillman Avenue was destroyed.

What one feisty.....lol
Ok, i have`nt been down hillman for a few weeks, but i do know that some of the properties ajoining the alley rat runs were having problems with broken windows.
Until that particuler problem is sorted out, you will get more empty properties i`m afraid, the good news is you cannot rebuild the gross ones, and so then we go into the spiral of the ten stages of planning enforcement until the beyond repair properties are finally pulled down.
(or set alight first)
of subject a bit, a post war prefab estate in Catford, S E London, due to be demolished, looks like being granted a grade 11 listing order by H M Gov.
hhmmmmmmmm, i wonder.....if, just if........lol

I thought that Jaywick was a regular call for the Fire Brigade, especially now it's the firework season.

Unfortunately, any area suffer`s from mindles fire attacks at any time of year, but empty properties are a magnet to the insane who delight in seeing fires.
I say insane, as no sane person would do it...
