A REGENERATION company set up by Tendring Council will face an attempt to shut it down.

Tendring Regeneration was established in a bid to attract funding and expertise the authority was not able to.

But Conservative group leader Neil Stock wants to bring it to an end.

He has put forward a motion to Wednesday’s full council meeting.

It reads: “This council is committed to regeneration across the district, and believes this can best be achieved by a whole council approach that allows and encourages the participation of all 60 councillors, as well as all services and staff.

“Therefore, this council resolves to shut down Tendring Regneration immediately in order to bring its powers and functions back within the democratic control of the council.”

Mr Stock was initially appointed as one of the company’s directors but resigned, along with Community Representatives group leader Steven Henderson, in July.

They were unhappy about the amount of money being spent on staffing costs – £300,000-plus annually.

The motion is likely to be defeated unless the 27 Conservative members are supported by at least four other councillors.

So Intend is trying to bring regeneration to the district and the tories and CRPs are trying to ruin this. Surely its about time they stopped their silly little petty fueds and just got on with the job of doing what is best for us. Or perhaps Councillor Henderson thinks that that is pointing at potholes and attacking members of his own party.

I don't understand how INTend is supposed to work. They were given £1.1 million which was promtly spent on £330K per year salaries for three year contracts. What's left for regeneration? Does anybody know?
