A COMPANY has won a £1.1 million order for a specialist camera.

The Ministry of Defence has placed an order for the Argus thermal imaging camera from e2v, whose headquarters are based in Chelmsford, to be used by the Royal Navy.

The camera is designed to be used in several different ways, including firefighting in ships, buildings and planes.

Swedish, Australian, Indian and Pakistan navies all use the camera, along with thousands of firefighting departments across the globe.

Gordon MacSween, a divisional director for e2v, said: "I'm confident that, thanks to the Argus camera's leading technology and extreme reliability, this will be the first of many wins to supply the cameras to naval fleets and marine industries around the world."
