Clippers out for country park sheep
SHEEP at a country park got well needed hair cuts.
The sheep shearing weekend on May 10 and 11 at Marsh Farm Country Park, South Woodham Ferrers, saw thousands visit the popular attraction during the warm weather weekend.
Children and adults watched staff shear the sheep and saw first hand what happens to the wool once it has been removed from the animals, including wool spinning demonstrations.
After learning from the experts, visitors could take some of the wool home with them and there was a chance to meet the sheepdog Mel.
Lisa Flecknell, spokeswoman for Marsh Farm, said the large number of visitors helped to make a busy weekend for staff at the country park.
She said: "It was a really eventful weekend at the park and lots of people liked the sheep shearing, while staff always like it when its busier."
Two recently born piglets and a calf were out on the fields, proving popular with the families.
The next event at the country park will be the wildlife week in half term, between May 26 and 30, when there will be a number of frog-themed events to celebrate the Year of the Frog.
