ESSEX Police Museum is organising its first family fun day.

The event will be held on Saturday May 17 between 10am-4pm at police headquarters in Springfield, Chelmsford.

Museum curator Becky Latchford said: "The Museum Family Fun Day is an opportunity for us to promote the museum and Essex Police as a whole.

"Visitors will be able to meet our police dogs and horses. They will also be able to visit the Second World War shelter and go to our force information room where 999 calls are handled.

"It will be a great day out for all the family with plenty to see and do."

There will also be face painting, competitions and refreshments.

The Essex Police Museum was first established in 1991 and holds objects and material relating to the history of the force from 1840.

The fun day is suitable for all ages, admission is free and children must be accompanied by an adult.

No booking is required.
