Bells at Braintree’s iconic clock tower are finally ringing again after months of silence.

Braintree Council had switched off the bells in the Grade II listed clock tower at Braintree Town Hall during major structural repairs earlier this year.

The largest 300-weight bell could not be re-started until the limestone mortar had hardened.

Councillors Lynette Bowers-Flint, Joanne Beavis, Lene Shepherd, John McKee and Ron Ramage joined Braintree Town Hall staff for the switch on Saturday.
