Pupils enjoyed all the glitz and glamour of the red carpet at their move star themed prom.

About 25 Southview School pupils donned their gladrags for the event held at the Conrad Road site in Witham on Thursday evening.

Assistant headteacher Lee Newitt said: “It was truly fantastic.

“We had materials given to us by cinemas, a red carpet, and everyone was all dressed up as different film stars and actors and everyone had a wonderful time.

“They really did us so proud.”

Speaking about the speeches given by each student Mr Newitt said the depth, reflection and humour was wonderful and he knows they will all go on to be successful.

So a school had an end of year party. This is not news. Every School does it. They did when I went to school in the 70's. We used to call it a school disco, calling it a prom is American twaddle.
