Braintree: Vandals set bandstand alight

Vandals have damaged a unique bandstand thought to be the only one of its kind in the country.
Four fire engines were called to Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens on Saturday, shortly after 6pm.
The thatched roof of the bandstand at the Bocking End gardens was ten per cent alight and it took nearly 40 minutes to extinguish.
George Canvin, treasurer of the Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens Trust, said two of the reed thatch panels have been damaged.
He said: “It is a lovely feature in the gardens and I believe it is the only thatched bandstand in the country remaining.
“It was built in 1890 and it is quite an important feature.”

They won't be caught, lets face it. It's a shame because a parent somewhere probably noticed their 'child' returning home smelling of petrol or lighter fluid or smoke and thought nothing of it.
