A card shop whose parent company entered administration has shut its doors for the final time.

The Clinton Cards branch, in the Grove Centre, Witham, welcomed its final customers last Sunday.

On June 7, it was announced that 397 of Clintons’ UK stores, would be sold to an American company.

But the Witham store was one of 330 stores not included in the sale that remained under the control of administrators Zolfo Cooper.

A Zolfo Cooper spokesman confirmed that the store in the Grove Centre was one of 122 branches that was due to close by Thursday.

The Clintons stores in George Yard, Braintree, and Halstead High Street remain open under the control of new owners Lakeshore Lending.
