Witham was all clogged up when two groups of Morris dancers teamed up to put on a show for spectators at Grove and Newland shopping centres.
Sylvie Bullen-Bell, 48, who dances with Maldon's Alive and Kicking Morris, said it went really well.
She added: "We were very well received by the Witham public, especially the young people. I was quite surprised."
Mrs Bullen-Bell, of Wood Road, Heybridge, said the teams handed out leaflets to educate people about traditional dancing.
Alive and Kicking Morris is a mixed group that dances in the traditional North-West Clog style.
Rumford Morris Men, from Romford, do stick and handkerchief dances mostly from the Cotswolds.
