Witham MP Priti Patel is to host a 90 minute Parliamentary debate on traveller sites in the area.
The debate entitled Government consultation on gypsy and traveller planning will take place at 2.30pm on Wednesday in Westminster Hall.
On June 23 she had asked Commons Leader Sir George Young for the debate to look into changing the consulation by the planning inspectorate on traveller sites across her constituency.
Ms Patel said: “It is about time planning policy respected the rights of the settled community and did not prioritise on dubious human rights grounds gypsy and traveller appeals.”

Er... What she is proposing seems to me to fall into one of your stated categories - "the general up keep of the area."
I fear your prejudices are clouding your partisanship...

I love the way Ms Patel selected a sensitive topic, when there are many many many more things that are more important than this! Picking a topic to boost credibility is not going to do you any favours.
How about you have debate on the state of the roads before the next winter sets in, or how about the poor public transport services. Er what else, binge drinking in town, loss of front line services, libraries, lack of jobs, population density, the general up keep of the area. There are dozens of things that you could choose, but lets go with the one that will give the points.
Go away Patel, we don't want a popularity contest, we want to see more work and a better standard of living!
