A headteacher has praised her students and staff after Ofsted inspectors recognised school improvements.

Rivenhall Primary School was judged to require improvement after an inspection in 2014, but has now been rated good by inspectors.

A report praised its rich and stimulating learning environment and attentive students.

It said: “The headteacher is unwavering in her determination to improve all aspects of the school’s work.

“She has successfully tackled the areas for improvement identified at the time of the previous inspection, and has raised the expectations of the staff and the pupils.

“She is ably assisted by senior and middle leaders. The headteacher and all staff have a strong capacity to deliver further improvements.

“Underachieving pupils are supported by a range of strategies to accelerate their progress.”

The school, which has 106 registered pupils, provides good care for pupils with special education needs or disabilities.

Most pupils say they enjoy school and are attentive and enthusiastic learners, however a few pupils waste time and do not complete their work fully in some lessons.

Headteacher Rebecca More said: “We are delighted the report confirms what we think of our school.

“It recognises our progress since the last inspection and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication shown by children, parents and staff.

“We are really proud our children are so positive about their learning.”

To improve, the school should provide learning which consistently challenges the most able pupils and ensure all subjects, particularly French and ICT, promote the same high standards as English and maths.
