Plans have been revealed to turn a former police station into a nursery, creating 14 new jobs.

Clever Clogs Day Nursery, which already has sites in Brentwood, Dunmow and Chelmsford, has applied for permission to convert the former police station, in Newland Street, Witham, into a childcare facility.

The premises, which already has 554sqm of floorspace, as big as two tennis courts, will be completely remodelled and extensions will add another third to the useable space.

The police station closed in February 2016, although PCSO support was offered until May the same year.

In November last year, the building was placed on the market for £875,000, with the advert stating it was suitable for residential development.
