YOUNGSTERS from 17 schools descended on Felsted School for a mock meeting of the United Nations.
It was the ninth time the school has held its Model United Nations conference with pupils taking on the challenge of representing different countries.
The young delegates debated issues such as gender equality and heard from Katie Maude-Baker, from Campaign for Female Education which tackles poverty and inequality by supporting education opportunities for girls.
Marlene Hertenstein, a year 12 pupil, said: "The debates were of an immensely high standard and the speeches were both touching and motivating.
"Everyone involved is already looking forward to the next conference at Felsted."
The children also debated human rights in India, renewable energy in the west, healthcare and the importance of young people in politics.
