AN elderly couple have been re-united after becoming separated while they were at Stansted Airport.
Three volunteers police officers who were on duty at the airport were tasked with tracking down a woman after being alerted by her husband.
Special Sergeant William Anderson, Special Constable Mark Searle and Special Constable Paul Duke took a description of the lady and began searching the airport.
One searched landside while the others two scoured transport hubs and made their way through airport security to the departures lounge.
Working with CCTV operatives and the Force Control Room, they were able to track down the woman and reunite her with her worried husband.
Special Inspector Steve Pipe said: “It can be devastating when a loved one goes missing.
"We take every report of a missing person seriously and our priority is to locate that person as soon as possible.
"Fortunately, we have a vast network of resources available at Stansted Airport that can assist our officers with incidents such as this.
"I’m pleased we were able to reunite the couple in time for their flight."
