A non-league football superfan is winning plaudits from across the country after posting an impassioned rant on Twitter bashing a former first-term favourite who moved to a rival club.
Dedicated Witham Town Football Club follower James Beardwell, famous after his appearance on Channel 4’s Undateables television show, takes aim at former The Town defender Lance Akins, who joined Coggeshall Town earlier this week.
In the video, Mr Beardwell says the player’s decision left him “literally fuming”.
“I hope you’re watching this Lance Akins – remember what Witham Town made you over the last few years since you were at Witham Town,” he said.
“We made you into a really good player.
“We stuck by you with support for you.
“And look what you did, you ruined it all, you ran off to Coggeshall Town FC.”
At the end of the video Mr Beardwell admits "life goes on" and he is looking forward to Witham Town's next game.
Dozens of footie fans have shared the Tweet and praised Mr Beardwell's passion for the beautiful game.
