A MUSICIAN and TV presenter will appear on the latest series of Britain's Got Talent - as part of a marching band.

Rob Jones, who is professionally know as Rob Cash, will appear on the ITV show when it reappears on our screens next year.

The Braintree-man will be playing the drums for percussion group 'No Limit Street Band' and said he got involved when a friend got in touch.

Mr Jones said: "A guy I've been in bands with and known for years, Rus Rodgers, wanted to apply some of our marching band experience into No Limit Street Band.

"He wanted to create something fresh and new for the show."

The band, which covers all genres of music, appeared on BBC One show Let It Shine in a performance with Take That earlier this year.

The Carjackers presenter said the band have got through the first stages of auditioning for Britain's Got Talent and will be on TV for the new series.

Mr Jones explained the main reason for his participation was because he wanted to see the perception of marching bands change.

The 34-year-old said: "There's a big stereotype attached to marching bands because people assume they're like those awful college ones on American Pie but it’s far from it.

"There’s heavy choreography and it’s actually a sport.

Mr Jones said the size of the band can vary from a couple of members up to 100.

He said: "Musically you have to be on top form and the idea for me is to break this stereotype and show the world this area of music can be up to date and cool.

"Everywhere the band goes, people are just drawn into the party."
