A safety conscious primary school pupil has won national recognition for her design skills.

Frankie Galley-Willsher, a nine-year-old pupil at Great Bradfords Junior School, Braintree, designed the winning road safety banner in a competition run by Recognition Express Essex and charity Brake.

The design showcases the theme of this year's road safety week - Speed Down, Save Lives.

The winning entry was selected from hundreds submitted by primary school pupils in Essex and Great Bradfords received a banner version to display at the school.

Frankie received a trophy and won 360 high visibility drawstring bags for pupils at the school.

Graham Marshall, director of Recognition Express Essex, said: "This competition is one of the highlights of our year and we really look forward to receiving the children’s designs.

"The results are always fantastic and we are sure that Frankie’s banner will encourage people to think more about road safety.”

Road Safety Week concludes on Saturday and is the biggest road safety event in the UK.
