A decision to refuse a planning application for the development of up to 80 homes has been upheld at an appeal.
Braintree Council has had its decision to refuse the application for a site on land off Wethersfield Road in Finchingfield upheld at appeal.
The council refused the planning application in February but Gladman Developments Ltd lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate soon after.
A public inquiry was held in September.
Councillor Lynette Bowers-Flint, responsible for planning and housing, said: “We’re pleased our decision to refuse the application has been so strongly supported by the Planning Inspector who agreed the harm caused to the setting of neighbouring listed buildings, the Finchingfield Conservation Area and the landscape character of the area, outweighed the benefits of new housing in this location.”
