A MAN who overcame bullies and learned to wear his specs with pride has won a competition naming him glasses wearer of the year.
Alex Miller, 27, has picked up the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year prize.
He received the accolade at a star-studded event hosted by Rylan Clark in London.
Alex was chosen by a panel of expert judges and was handed the award by former Girl’s Aloud singer Nadine Coyle.
He wins a £10,000 cash prize and £1,000 glasses wardrobe for winning the award.
Alex, of Silver End, has a piece of his optic-nerve missing in my left eye and began wearing glasses at primary school.
He said: “Embrace wearing your glasses as much as you can.
"These days they’re quite fashionable, so they can be both functional and an accessory.
"So, don’t worry about it, crack on."
