A swimming pool has closed the same week it was due to offer free activities as an apology for repair delays.

The swimming facilities at Braintree Swimming and fitness Centre, in Charter Way, closed in March for improvement works and were initially set to reopen on May 20, but was delayed on two occasions.

Following the repair and resurfacing of its two pools, the centre offered free swim and activities on July 22 and 23, as an apology for the inconvenience caused during the closure period.

But the centre has now shared a message on social media saying the main pool has closed again.

Braintree and Witham Times:

Braintree Council has now confirmed the pool is closed temporarily while engineers resolve a technical issue with the clarity of the water.

Routine testing identified an issue so Fusion is working to correct this to ensure the necessary visibility for the safety of customers.

A further message posted to the Facebook page said:

"Hi all, the teaching pool and leisure water pool are OPEN AS NORMAL. Therefore lessons are running as normal.

"The main pool will be closed until further notice and an update will be put on social media each hour to keep you informed of when we can re-open it.

"In regards to the main pool lessons tonight, we will make a decision later in the day.

"Please keep your eye on our page for further updates."

The Times has approached Fusion for a comment.
