A WOMAN has been threatened with a knife in her own home during a break-in at a house in Tiptree.

The burglar broke into a property in Windmill Hill and carried out an untidy search of the house.

He disturbed the victim and held up a knife before making off into the nearby woods.

Police say the crook escaped with a number of stolen goods.

He is described as mixed-race, in his 20s, with short hair in an afro-style, wearing a grey fisherman’s-type hat, a long sleeved walking jacket and grey trousers.

The incident happened at about 8am on Thursday, July 7.

The woman is not believed to have been injured.
