A FUN day organised in aid of a little boy with an aggressive form of cancer raised more than £3,000 for his appeal.

The Horse and Groom pub, in Rayne Road, Braintree, hosted the event on Saturday, July 1, in aid of Braintree youngster Jacob Jones.

Jacob has been fighting high-risk neuroblastoma since he was two and his parents have been raising money in the hope of sending him to America for treatment, although tragically he has suffered another relapse.

The event included a host of family-friendly activities, along with food, drink and a special charity auction.

Braintree Fire Station sent along one of their fire engines for the event, and Sparky the Fire Dog came along too.

Tony Price, chef of the Horse and Groom, said: “It was a fantastic day with so much going on and ourselves and Jacobs family were overwhelmed with the amount of people who turned up.

“The auction was absolutely amazing which alone raised near to £800 and that was all thanks to local businesses around Braintree who donated prizes.

“We have to say a massive thank you to everyone who contributed and everyone who attended to make the day a huge success.”

The exact figure raised is not yet known, however it is more than £3,000.
