RESIDENTS of two care homes raised fund for a dementia charity with a quiz night.

More than 40 people attended the New Deanery and St Mary's Court joint quiz evening, with all of the proceeds being donated to Essex Dementia Care.

The event, won by Quiz Team Aguilera, raised more than £180 for the charity.

Jo Whitehouse, activities manager at New Deanery, said: "We were thrilled to raise such a good amount from this event, which included a raffle, as well as a cake sale earlier in the week.

"Everyone had a great time, so much so that people are already asking when we are going to do it again.

“I particularly would like to mention our matron Joan Sirett who organised the Quiz & baked all the cakes and donated the gifts.”

Debbie Davis, CEO of Essex Dementia Care, said: We would like to thank the staff, residents and their families for making this event such a success.

"Every penny counts and the money raised will enable us to help people to live well with dementia.”
