DETAILED plans for a new Toucan crossing in Great Notley have been released.
Essex County Council is proposing the crossing on London Road, to the north east of its junction with Cut Hedge.
The crossing was a condition put upon developer Crest Nicholson Eastern for the upcoming construction of 96 homes off of London Road and Bakers Lane, which was approved by Braintree Council on January 17.
It will be paid for by the developers as part of the section 106 agreement.
A report by Essex Highways states: “The provision of eight zigzag markings on either side of the Toucan crossing will also improve the safety of this crossing by highlighting its presence and preventing on-street parking.
“The proposed crossing will complement the construction of a proposed footway and cycletrack linking the new development site to the existing cycleway adjacent to the western side of London Road.”
Any representations by members of the public on the proposals must be received by June 16.
