A MOTHER has called for security measures at a park after her teenage son witnessed a man expose himself.

The mother, from Witham, said her son, 13, had been at the park near Spa Road on Saturday afternoon.

Her son, who she did not wish to name, came home in the evening and told her he had seen people drinking and making sexual gestures at each other.

She said: "My son and his friend went to the skatepark opposite Asda and met a few other friends down there.

"A couple were in the play park so they went to join them.

"Three people were in there with their two young children, they also had two dogs off leads.

"They were drinking heavily and acting in what I would consider as being an anti-social way, especially in a children's park."

She said she wished she could have been there at the time, but called the police as soon as her son got home.

She said: "One of the girls spilt some drink down her top and so started making sexual gestures.

"I need to add this wasn't actually at the boys, but they could see it all."

Her son said it happened at about 4pm on March 25.

She felt a patrol at the park would be the best thing, but said it would be unrealistic.

She said: "That's the only thing I think could possibly make a difference."

She also suggested CCTV cameras.

The park has also been notorious for assaults.

In October last year two assaults on young girls were reported to police.

Braintree Council, which manages the park, has been contacted for comment.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Police were contacted at 6.55pm, following reports that a man had indecently exposed himself in Spa Road, Witham.

"The caller reported that her 13-year-old son was at the skate park when a man, who was walking with a group of people, exposed himself at around 4pm."

Anyone with information should contact Braintree Police on 101.
