MORE than 200 new homes could be built as part of a huge new development in Kelvedon.

Andrew Hiorns Town Planning Limited has submitted an application on behalf of Parker Strategic Land Limited for up to 250 homes to be built on land at Station Field, Monks Farm.

The outline planning application does not disclose the precise make-up of the homes, however it will be a mixture of detached, semi-detached, terraced and apartments, including affordable homes.

The site has been earmarked for 300 homes as part of Braintree Council’s Local Plan, which is due to be published by summer this year.

Two dwellings will have to be demolished as part of the plans and a new access road is being proposed from Coggeshall Road to the development.

According to a planning statement, the site received the most support for new housing in the village during discussions around Kelvedon's Neighbourhood Plan.

The planning statement reads: “The proposals have been carefully conceived, planned and designed to ensure they fit well into their context and respond to the constraints and opportunities of the site.

“The scheme provides for a range of new homes, including affordable homes, and will meet a wide spectrum of housing requirements.

“The proposals include generous landscaped areas that retain existing ecological and landscape features and provide new parkland and play spaces for the new and existing residents to enjoy.

“The existing footpath routes through the site are retained and new routes created to allow residents to walk through the site and access the village facilities.”
