A POPULAR shop in Braintree town centre has closed this morning after the roof collapsed in its entrance.

B&M, on Rayne Road, Braintree, has been shut due to "unforeseen circumstances".

Pictures show the roof by one of the entrances to the shop has collapsed. 

A B&M spokesperson, said: “There are currently engineers on site assessing the damage to the store entrance way, we hope to have the problem rectified as soon as possible and get the store back open.”

The company has confirmed that no one was injured during the incident and all staff are safe and well.

Update 12.11pm: 

The store remains closed with engineers still working at the site. 

Update 12.59pm:

B&M has confirmed that the store has reopened. 

Customers can use the entrance located nearest to George Yard to get in.

Update 2pm: 

The retailer has confirmed that the damage was related to Storm Doris.
