A LIBRARY is to re-open at its new home in a village hall this week.
Silver End Library has moved to a new site on Broadway following the decision by the landlord to end the lease on its previous home earlier this year.
Ahead of the re-opening, the ground floor of the village hall had been refurbished.
It now includes a new self-service machine, study space, and will offer the full loan service and activities such as rhyme times.
Anne Brown, councillor responsible for libraries at Essex County Council, said: “We have been working with local community partners over the last few months to re-locate the library, and I am very pleased that we have been able to do this ahead of the Christmas period.
“The move to the village hall is a great opportunity for the library to develop, it offers a flexible space that can be adapted for a host of different activities and events, which is exactly what we need in a modern library service.”
Ward councillor James Abbott wanted the new provision to be just as good as the existing.
It is thought a takeaway could replace the old library.
The library will be open from Tuesday.
Opening times Tuesday, 2pm until 6pm, Thursday, 2pm until 6pm and Saturday, 9am until 1pm.
